Translation: “It is clear that the judge agreed with our complaints that the Health Authority urban decision exceeded the limits of its powers and secondly that the decision is arbitrary and moody and hurt people who more than anyone else”

Speaker: New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg
Translation “If we are serious in the fight against obesity must be honest when talking about the causes and must be courageous in the face of these causes, seventy thousand U.S. are expected to die with the end of this year due to obesity five thousand of them in New York”
Statistics concern to many Americans, who mostly prefer, however, not to impose policies that reduce freedoms. The United States is the most obese country in the world and spends billions of dollars a year in the treatment of diseases resulting therefrom, and recent studies predicted to suffer nearly half the country’s population of obese by the year two thousand and thirty.

The battle will continue before the courts, and the issue for the citizens here are not soda, but personal freedoms and the limits of the intervention of the authorities
